Before leaving, he makes Tess promise to keep the hatch door shut, not to open it for anyone but him, and to stay put until he returns.
But he forgot to tell her one thing: What is she supposed to do if he never comes back?
Surprisingly, I wasn’t sure how I was going to with this book. I’ve been watching so much The Walking Dead and Zombie or Apocalypse stuff of late that I was sure it would all blend in together. Luckily, Angela Scott has done a wonderful job of creating a worlds end that left me begging for more! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I think this is my “first apocalyptic” story I’ve read (as I said, watched is different). The story starts with an action packed scene of Tess frantically racing around her house as the world begins to end. Her dad takes her to a bomb shelter he’s prepared, (cue flashbacks of Doomsday Preppers! – that show!!!!!) and then he leaves with the promise of coming back…but he never does….
From this moment, the reader is taken on a journey with Tess, as she navigates burning suns, sink holes, massive tornadoes and hail storms. All with her kitten, Callie, in tow. Along the way she meets a couple of characters who helped to keep the story line fresh, and interesting. I really love how the author has fleshed this story out, and although you might think you know what’s happening, suddenly there’s another corner turned and you’re left wondering. This book has given me a severe book hangover. I stayed up late into the night reading it because I had to know what happened in the end. Grab it now, and read, because I’d love to know your thoughts.
Apparently she also writes zombie stories…I must get onto these!

For the most part, I write contemporary Young Adult novels. However, through a writing exercise that spirale
d out of control, I found myself writing about zombies terrorizing the Wild Wild West—and loving it. My zombies don’t sparkle, and they definitely don’t cuddle. At least, I wouldn’t suggest it.
I live on the benches of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains with two lovely children, one teenager, and a very patient husband. I graduated from Utah State University with a B.A. degree in English, not because of my love for the written word, but because it was the only major that didn’t require math. I can’t spell, and grammar is my arch nemesis. But they gave me the degree, and there are no take backs.
As a child, I never sucked on a pacifier; I chewed on a pencil. I’ve been writing that long. It has only been the past few years that I’ve pursued it professionally, forged relationships with other like-minded individuals, and determined to make a career out of it
