Book Review: Say You Remember by H. D’Agostino

sayyouremember

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I had it all once…I was popular, a jock, the center of attention in any group, friends that followed me everywhere. I thought I ruled the world, and in my high school I did. Girls threw themselves at me, and I used them knowing they’d never mean anything until I met her…Danielle Reed.

I never planned on liking her or even falling in love, but I did. I fell hard, and I ruined it before it could really begin.

It’s been eight years now. I never thought I’d see her again, but here she is. The thing is, she can’t stand me. She reminds me every chance she gets of what a horrible person I was, and how she hopes I rot in hell. I know it would be simpler to just move on and forget about her, but I can’t. I can’t let her go, and I don’t want to.

Danielle Reed will be mine again. I just need to make her remember.

Although this is the fourth book in the series, I went into the book reading as a stand alone (having not read any others). I had to re-read the beginning over so that I could place myself where the characters where. Once I did, I settled in and managed to capture the essence of the novel.qabkzl6r82i6q

The story flowed back and forth through past and present point of view. This could be confusing, but for this book it really worked to get character backgrounds and where they were coming from. The alternate point of views never overlapped so much that you were reading the same thing, this helped to move the story along.

I really felt for Dani, especially after Mason’s betrayals (the crux of the story). I couldn’t believe she held onto so much anger for so many years. It was nice to see Mason had been through his own life’s trials and tribulations that it was able to make him into the better person he is all those years later. The person he needed to be to jjgup9efwrsukhelp Dani remember the times he wants back.

Pick this book up if you are after a second chance romance full of heartache and redemption.

We’re stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt’s chance at the presidency on the line.

Okay, Okay, Okay – Matt Hamilton HAS MY VOTE. Next President of the United States of America. Oh, wait..this isn’t real..and I’m not an American voter. Bummer! This book was all sorts of good! It follows the rise of a young man into an honoured and voteforhamilton-1prestigious role of running for President. Matt comes from political royalty, and has been groomed to do the next top job. Only, he’s not in it alone. Although his family has seen tragedy, he has a campaign crew ready to get him to the top, but will his attraction and want for the newest team member jeapordise everything?

Matt Hamilton knows he has met the person who can help him and his team on their campaign. Charlotte is hard working-like him, comes from political royalty,-like him, and might just be the best damn thing he’s ever seen, in his life (a lot like I imagine, him!). Getting involved with someone on the team is risky, and these two know it. Yet the pull they feel can’t be denied. The chemistry they exude springs off the pages and has you hurrying through to see what’s next. The heartaches and emotions that come from decisions will have you clenching your heart and hoping for more.  I can NOT wait for the next book to come out! This book does end with a bit of a cliff hanger, but it is sooooo worth the read!

This is my first Katy Evans book and I was really impressed. The way she writes the emotions and scenes captured me and had me reading this book in one sitting.

Book Review: Second Chances by Suzi Macdonald

Second Chance
A Contemporary Romance Novel
By Suzi Macdonald
Release Date: October 17, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Second Chances, Reunion, First Love, Decisions, Family

Teige Adams fell for the dazzling Alexandra “Zani” Fairmichael in high school, but Zani was far too sophisticated to fall for a tall, geeky misfit like Teige. Twenty years later, he is a successful photographer with a string of glamorous ex-girlfriends behind him, and Zani has become plain Allie Brown, the mother of demanding teenage twins.

When Teige discovers Allie has separated from her husband and is moving back to their hometown, he is determined to try for a second chance at the girl he never had. But Allie, on the rebound from a difficult marriage, isn’t certain what (or who) she wants. Plus, Teige’s slightly unhinged ex-fiancée and Allie’s soon-to-be-ex-husband have their own ideas about who Teige and Allie should be with. And then there is Katie, who is certain Teige is “The One” for her.

Will Teige finally win Allie’s heart – or is it too late for a second chance?
SGMyReview

Second Chances is a book about, well.. second chances. There seems to be a theme around the genre at the moment and I’m totally okay with that! I love a good missed opportunity story. This book delves into the lives of Tiege and Zani. Tiege always had a thing for Zani but it just wasn’t meant to be, with two different people and two different agendas during high school. They meet later, as their friends intertwine lives, and the sizzle starts to bubble up. The thing about this book is: it’s set in the UK, so you have to read it like that. By that I mean there is a lot of Britishisms, which I was okay with.

The characters are older and more mature than a lot of books I’ve read lately. This added to the intrigue of the storyline. There were moments of frustration about both main character’s behaviour (and also the secondary characters), but really, what comes out of this story simply, is flawed characters looking for love. It’s good to read a book with flawed, mature characters and some not so great  characters looking to cause trouble for love.
This book is a good read from Suzi Macdonald, and I recommend it to anyone who is after a few twists and turns in an imperfect story of getting back a love that has bubbled under the surface for decades.
