If you are reading my blog, and this review, then I am fairly certain you have a long list of book boyfriends/husbands..amiright!? This book has taken romance readers to the next level in a fun, crazy way. Rylie is a cafe owner, romance obsessed, reader. I did feel sorry for her B.O.B at one stage, because girlfriend needed to get some rool-life action for a bit! Luckily, in steps the perfectly (imperfect?) cap wearing-bootbuckled up-Hot Tamale! Or at least that’s the nickname Rylie gives him when she accidentally falls
…you know where! Mystery Guy sits at a table, drinking coffee and typing on his laptop each day. Why is is suddenly coming in to the cafe, and paying attention to Rylie?!
This story is one to take as a feel good, fun read and should definitely be accompanied by a snack of donuts, hot tamales, mints, and coffee (you’ll understand why!) There are nods to some authors in the ‘indie publishing world’ that will make you laugh. The encounter and internal monologue of Rylie at the ‘author signing’ had me chuckling because I was imagining how it looked the first time I accidentally crash-tackle-hugged an author (Love you, LR!)!! The book follows a typical romance genre path, with drama ensuing to keep the storyline flowing. You’ll enjoy this book best on a Sunday afternoon as you ignore real life and delve into the world of romance fiction. Vicki Green has delivered a lighthearted laugh and escape into the the crazy world of book boyfriends, and capturing one for keeps.
The humming of B.O.B. echoes in the bathroom but suddenly the sound lessens along with the vibration. “What? No!” I’m out of the bathroom in a flash, jog out of my bedroom and run down the hallway. Sliding on the wooden floor, I grab ahold of the kitchen doorframe, catching myself before I fall. I race into the kitchen and open my junk drawer, scouring for my batteries. “Not now. Not now. NOT NOW!” I sigh in relief as I find the package and gasp when I remove the last two. All I can think is that I need to make sure I write batteries down on my grocery list first thing in the morning.

Cat and Griffin have an amazing push/pull relationship, and I really enjoyed the way the author built up the tension, the relationship, and the enduring fight they both must endure for the worlds to come together. The additional characters are exceptional and fun, and complimented the main story line well. This is by far one of the better fantasy romance novels I have read. It wasn’t always about the romance, and I appreciated that so much. There was action, drama, and, romance. A perfect trio! I can’t wait to read the next books in the series, because I won’t lie…..the end had me hanging for WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!?!!!!

here in Australia, and my children don’t seem to know what a ‘sleep in’ is…so rude!!! This morning I was awoken at a ridiculous hour, so ridiculous that even my Netflix and Presto streaming services weren’t awake yet. Annoyed that I couldn’t indulge in some mindless viewing I headed to my bookshelf and searched the books I had recently
picked up at the signing. The Holly Project jumped into my hands and it ended up being a lovely way to spend a morning, and then afternoon.

which is familiar in the Starcrossed books. Sacrifice and Love once again come to the forefront and the reader is left turning the page until the very end.

The main character, Evelyn (Evie) Lockhart is definitely not a wallflower. She is smart, clever, and strong. Although some of her choices are questionable, and I’ll admit they left me feeling a little uneasy reading through. Despite that, I was so glad to read all the way in one sitting, and found the ending truly satisfying.
This book had me up until 2am in the morning! I could not put it down. The whole book was littered with language from the 1920’s which makes me want to bring it back! With settings like the speakeasy, to sayings like “spifflicated” (something I’ve certainly done on the weekends past), this book is a delightful insight into a woman who is faced with adversity in a time when men ruled, and women kept quiet…until Evelyn Lockhart came along. Much more than a love story.
